Il s'agit, dans cette thèse intitulée « Michel del Castillo : la guerre d'Espagne en héritage », d'appréhender l'oeuvre de l'écrivain franco-espagnol à la lumière trois éléments constitutifs : l'histoire, la vie et l'écriture. Né à Madrid en 1933, de père français et de mère espagnole, la guerre civile espagnole de 1936 constitue sa première et décisive expérience du monde et le déterminant majeur de sa vie. L'écriture de ce destin tragique, structuré autour de la guerre et de ses scories (exil, internement dans les camps du sud de la France, déportation, maisons de redressement franquistes, abandon et privations de toutes sortes), confère une place importante à l'événement. D'où la caractéristique essentielle de son oeuvre qui, alliant le vécu et l'histoire, infléchit les perceptions antérieures liées à la guerre. Le sens du roman, construit comme interrogation et comme médiation face à la dureté du réel, réside dans la sublimation de la vie, permettant à Michel del Castillo de dépasser l'Histoire It's question in this thesis, entitled "Michel del Castillo: the Spanish civil war in heritage", to apprehend the work of the Franco-Spanish writer to the light three components: history, life and the writing.
