    Drohnen und ihre medial-visuelle Nutzung werden zunehmend populärer - längst haben sie unsere Medienpraktiken und -imaginationen erfasst. Entgegen der bisherigen Reduktion auf ballistische Bildwelten bringen Drohnenbilder auch die emergente Logik einer digitalen Umwelt zum Vorschein, die sich durch eine ubiquitäre, mobile und vernetzte Handlungsmacht der Datenerfassung auszeichnet. Drohnen stehen heute nicht nur für die rasante sensorische Durchdringung von Raum und Zeit, sondern auch für neue mediale Formen situierter Entscheidungsfindung. Der Band stellt sich dem Phänomen aus medientheoretischer und techniksoziologischer Perspektive und zeigt: Erstmals rückt nun in den bildlichen Fokus, wie die situierten mobilen Dinge uns sehen - und nicht allein, wie wir die Dinge sehen Drones and their media-visual application are becoming increasingly more popular, and have long since captured our media practices and imaginations. Contrary to their reduction to ballistic imagery, drone images also reveal the emerging logic of a digital environment characterised by a ubiquitous, mobile, and networked force of data collection. Today, drones stand not only for the rapid sensorial penetration of space and time, but also for new media forms of situated decision-making. This book confronts the phenomenon from a media theory and sociological technology studies perspective and shows that it is now how situated mobile objects see us that comes into focus for the first time - and not only how we see them

    Drohnen und ihre medial-visuelle Nutzung werden zunehmend populärer - längst haben sie unsere Medienpraktiken und -imaginationen erfasst. Entgegen der bisherigen Reduktion auf ballistische Bildwelten bringen Drohnenbilder auch die emergente Logik einer digitalen Umwelt zum Vorschein, die sich durch eine ubiquitäre, mobile und vernetzte Handlungsmacht der Datenerfassung auszeichnet. Drohnen stehen heute nicht nur für die rasante sensorische Durchdringung von Raum und Zeit, sondern auch für neue mediale Formen situierter Entscheidungsfindung. Der Band stellt sich dem Phänomen aus medientheoretischer und techniksoziologischer Perspektive und zeigt: Erstmals rückt nun in den bildlichen Fokus, wie die situierten mobilen Dinge uns sehen - und nicht allein, wie wir die Dinge sehen Drones and their media-visual application are becoming increasingly more popular, and have long since captured our media practices and imaginations. Contrary to their reduction to ballistic imagery, drone images also reveal the emerging logic of a digital environment characterised by a ubiquitous, mobile, and networked force of data collection. Today, drones stand not only for the rapid sensorial penetration of space and time, but also for new media forms of situated decision-making. This book confronts the phenomenon from a media theory and sociological technology studies perspective and shows that it is now how situated mobile objects see us that comes into focus for the first time - and not only how we see them
