    Der Begriff »Reenactment« (engl. to reenact: nachstellen, wieder in Kraft setzen) bezeichnet eine ästhetische Praxis der Wiederaufführung und des Nachstellens historischer Ereignisse. Heike Engelke untersucht einen Paradigmenwechsel in der Diskussion von nachstellenden Strategien als künstlerischen Zugang zu Geschichte und ihren Ereignissen. Sie plädiert für die Ausarbeitung eines Vokabulars zu deren Beschreibung - mit dem Ziel, sich nicht in der Diagnose einer naiven Vergegenwärtigung oder eines kritischen Surplus in der spezifischen Wiederholung des Reenactment zu erschöpfen. Vielmehr gilt es, der vielschichtigen Verhandlung des Vergangenen innerhalb der Gegenwartskunst gerecht zu werden. The artistic procedure of reenactment goes beyond the scope of categorical as well as disciplinary limits due to its specific approach to history.

Anna-Lena Werner considers the aesthetic realm as a potential forum that provides methods of understanding the humanitarian consequences of violence and warfare, and to reveal the effects of trauma on visual culture, collective memory, and politics Biographical note: Anna-Lena Werner, born in 1985, is a researcher and curator of contemporary art and performance. She received her PhD from Freie Universität Berlin in 2019, where she is currently research associate at the Institute for Theatre Studies. She worked as a research associate for inter-institutional projects with Hamburger Bahnhof-Museum für Gegenwart-Berlin, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin. Since 2011, she has been editing the online magazine artfridge.de

    Long description: Die Grenzen in der Kunst: David Kaller widmet sich Territorien und Grenzen als Gegenstand in der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Er analysiert eine Auswahl an Werken, die sich auf unterschiedliche Phänomene territorialer Ordnungen beziehen. Diese reichen von Karten, Grenzen, Weltmeeren, Territorialkonflikten um Inselgruppen bis hin zur Bedeutung militärischer Drohnen für die Wahrnehmung territorialer Ordnungen. Die Perspektive richtet sich dabei immer auf zwei Ebenen: Welchen Begriff des Territoriums im Sinne eines raumpolitischen Machtgefüges führen die Werke vor? Und wie werden für den Betrachter territoriale Ordnungen in eine ästhetische Sichtbarkeit überführt? Biographical note: David Kaller, geb. 1983, lebt in Berlin und promovierte im Graduiertenkolleg »Automatismen« an der Universität Paderborn.     »Let Them Haunt Us« analyzes contemporary aesthetics engaged in trauma and critically challenges its canonical status as »unrepresentable«. Focusing on case studies in the aesthetic practices of Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller, Omer Fast, Forensic Architecture, and Paul McCarthy this book proposes to redefine trauma as a productive framework to exploring individual, collective, and cultural conflicts addressed in current artistic and curatorial practices. It considers the aesthetic realm as a potential forum that provides methods of understanding the humanitarian consequences of violence and warfare, and to reveal the effects of trauma on visual culture, collective memory, and politics

Anna-Lena Werner considers the aesthetic realm as a potential forum that provides methods of understanding the humanitarian consequences of violence and warfare, and to reveal the effects of trauma on visual culture, collective memory, and politics Biographical note: Anna-Lena Werner, born in 1985, is a researcher and curator of contemporary art and performance. She received her PhD from Freie Universität Berlin in 2019, where she is currently research associate at the Institute for Theatre Studies. She worked as a research associate for inter-institutional projects with Hamburger Bahnhof-Museum für Gegenwart-Berlin, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin. Since 2011, she has been editing the online magazine artfridge.de
