    Das Heldennarrativ des Sozialistischen Realismus ist als Vermittlungsform eines politischen Mythos der Moderne zu verstehen, der in der DDR vor allem durch massenkompatible Prosatexte und DEFA-Filme etabliert werden sollte. Je nach Mythentheorie (Barthes, Blumenberg oder Lévi-Strauss) wird ein anderer Aspekt des Phänomens deutlich und ergibt in der Summe ein differenziertes Bild einer ideologisierten Kulturentwicklung. Stefan Elits Analyse einer Reihe von einstmals bedeutenden, aber zum Teil in Vergessenheit geratenen DDR-Romanen und -Spielfilmen setzt sich mit einer Mythen-Kulturpolitik auseinander, deren kollektivistisches Ziel zunehmend in der Aporie eines sozialistischen Individualismus scheiterte The aporia of socialist individualism - In conjunction with Barthes, Blumenberg and Lévi-Strauss, Stefan Elit reads GDR novels and movies as paradoxical ways of dealing with mythological cultural politics
