    "En 2015, les panneaux peints sur leurs deux faces, conservés au petit béguinage Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Hoyen de Gand ont fait pour la première fois l’objet d’une étude technique et en histoire de l’art au sein de l’Institut royal du Patrimoine artistique (IR PA). Une documentation scientifique a été constituée à partir de photographies des oeuvres sous lumière du jour, en lumière rasante, sous rayonnement ultraviolet et d’un examen par réflectographie infrarouge. Les panneaux ont également été étudiés sous microscope digital. Outre le fait de documenter les matériaux et procédés employés pour réaliser les oeuvres, l’étude a eu pour objectif d’identifier des éléments stylistiques et matériels expliquant le rapport entre les scènes peintes sur les faces et sur les revers. Elle questionne également la fonction d’origine des panneaux." "In 2015 werd in het Koninklijk Instituut voor het Kunstpatrimonium (KIK) voor het eerst technisch en kunsthistorisch onderzoek verricht naar de tweezijdig beschilderde panelen die in het Klein Begijnhof Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Hoyen in Gent worden bewaard. De panelen werden wetenschappelijk gedocumenteerd op basis van foto’s van de werken bij daglicht, bij scheerlicht, onder ultraviolette straling en op basis van een onderzoek met infraroodreflectografie. Ze werden ook bestudeerd onder een digitale microscoop. Het onderzoek was niet enkel gericht op het documenteren van de gebruikte materialen en procedés, maar ook op de identificatie van de stilistische en materiële elementen die het verband tussen de geschilderde scènes op de voor- en de achterzijden kunnen verklaren. Het was tevens de bedoeling om de oorspronkelijke functie van de panelen te onderzoeken." "In 2015, two panels painted on both sides, preserved at Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Hoyen, the small beguinage in Ghent, were the object of an art historical and technical study at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IR PA) for the very first time. Scientific documentation was generated based on photographs of the works in daylight, raking light, ultraviolet light, and using infrared reflectography. The panels were also studied with a digital microscope. Apart from documenting the materials and processes used to make the works, the aim of the study was to identify the stylistic and material elements that explain the relationship between the scenes painted on the front and the back.
