    Die in der protestantischen Orthodoxie üblichen Karrierestufen von logischer zu theologischer und homiletischer Publizistik führen beim Strassburger lutherischen Theologen Johann Conrad Dannhauer (1603-1666) zu einer mehrfachen werkimmanenten Selbstrezeption, Sie erfolgt entlang dem zeitgenössischen Schlüsselbegriff der Methode. Nach Darlegung mündlich-disputatorischer (1629) und schriftlich-hermeneutischer (1630) Argumentationsmethoden entwickelt Dannhauer in seiner Dialektik (1634) die methodus im Gefolge J. Zabarellas insgesamt zu einer deutlicher apodiktisch-binären Logik. Er lässt sie als Darstellung der Wahl des christlichen Lebenswegs zuerst in der monumentalen Predigtsammlung der Catechismus-Milch (ab 1634) und schließlich in der Gegenüberstellung von lutherische Hodosophie (Wegweisheit, 1653) und katholischer sowie reformierter Hodomorie (Wegtorheit, 1654) wirksam werden. Der Methodenbegriff entwickelt sich so zu einer funktional hybriden Metapher und aus der Prüfung von Argumenten bildet sich jene des auch individuell verstandenen Glaubenswegs. Dies eröffnet neue Perspektiven auch auf das Paradox der Prägung Ph. J. Speners durch Dannhauer bei gleichzeitiger Bekämpfung des Pietismus durch die Staßburger Fakultät The reception of Neo-Aristotelianism by the Lutheran Orthodoxy has received little scholarly attention with regard to its practical effects on the church.     Abstract: Objects – from natural to domestic – constitute an essential element in various cinematic image motifs of Andrei Tarkovsky, as depicted in his films Solaris (1972), Mirror (1975), Stalker (1979), Nostalgia (1983) and Sacrifice (1986). In his polemic against Sergei Eisenstein's film theory of montage, Tarkovsky emphasises the temporality of objects that precludes the overpowering subjective temporalisation (which the theory of montage would presuppose). Time and the temporality of objects should, therefore, remain intact in the mise-en-scène. Most of these objects in Tarkovsky's image motifs have a characteristic in common; they are leftover objects - left over from the past, from the narrative continuity of the present, from dreams and mysterious incarnations, in ruins and uninhabited and abandoned terrains, from memory and oblivion. Tarkovsky's notion of mise-en-scène as “sculpting in time” suggests a mode of temporal existence which lingers on the leftover objects. The time that elapses in mise-en-scène is apparent in the creation of a film image, in which the present persists in the objects left behind. Therefore, in the scene compositions of image motifs, the camera does not necessarily follow the narration and its continuity, but often remains fixed on simple objects that are otherwise hardly regarded in the montage. In my paper I attempt to show how Tarkovsky's cinematic image motif, as displayed in slow motion, flight motif (overcoming the gravity), cinematic still life or constellations of painting, poetry and music, is mostly built on leftover objects. The accompanying music and recitation (of poems by his father, Arseniy Tarkovsky) creates a synthesis of verbal, auditory and visual metaphors that essentially characterises Tarkovsky's image motifs. The constant presence and perseverance of the leftover objects also points to an epistemic potential of Tarkovsky's image motifs, that the status of objects as remnants resists the prevailing subjective transcendentalism (to which the montage principle belongs within the framework of film aesthetics) and its reduction of objects to a merely given entity in perception Abstract: Die Gegenstände – von natürlichen bis häuslichen – konstituieren ein wesentliches Element in den verschiedenen filmischen Bildmotiven Andrej Tarkowskijs, dargestellt in seinen Filmen Solaris (1972), Spiegel (1975), Stalker (1979), Nostalgie (1983) und Opfer (1986). In seiner Polemik gegen das von Sergei Eisenstein paradigmatisch etablierte Montage-Kino betont Tarkowskij die gegenständliche Zeitlichkeit, die der überwältigenden subjektiven Verzeitlichung (die die Theorie der Montage voraussetzt) entgegensteht. Daher sollte das mise-en-scène die Zeit und Zeitlichkeit der Gegenstände unverändert einverleiben. Alle dieser Gegenstände haben ein Charakteristikum gemeinsam; sie sind hinterlassene und übrig gebliebene Gegenstände – übrig geblieben von der Vergangenheit, von der erzählerischen Kontinuität der Gegenwart, von Träumen und mysteriösen Inkarnationen, in Ruinen und unbewohnten und verlassenen Geländen, von Erinnerung und Vergessenheit. Tarkowskijs Vorstellung vom mise-en-scène als "Bildhauerei in Zeit" suggeriert den Existenzmodus der Zeit, die bei den übrig bleibenden Gegenständen verweilt. Die ablaufende Zeit in der Handlung tritt bei der Entstehung des Bildes momentan bildhauerisch in Erscheinung, wobei die Gegenwart bei den hinterlassenen Gegenständen zu verweilen scheint. Deshalb folgt die Kamera im Szenenaufbau der Bildmotive nicht unbedingt dem Vorgang der Erzählung, sondern bleibt oft auf die einfachen Objekte fixiert, die ansonsten in der Montage kaum dauernd berücksichtigt werden. In meinem Vortrag versuche ich zu zeigen, wie das filmische Bildmotiv Tarkowskijs, dargestellt in der Zeitlupe, dem Flugmotiv (Überwindung der Gravitation), dem filmischen Stillbild oder in bildlichen Konstellationen von Malerei, Dichtung und Musik, vornehmlich auf übrig gebliebenen Gegenständen aufbaut. Die begleitende Musik und Rezitation (von Gedichten seines Vaters, Arsenij Tarkowskij) erzeugt eine Synthese von verbaler, auditiver und visueller Metaphorik, die die filmischen Bildmotiven Tarkowskijs im wesentlichen charakterisiert. Die konstante Präsenz und Persistenz der übrig gebliebenen Gegenstände verweisen auch auf ein epistemisches Potenzial der Bildmotive Tarkowskijs, dass der Status der Gegenstände als Überbleibsel dem vorherrschenden subjektiven Transzendentalismus (dem das Montage-Prinzip im Rahmen der Filmästhetik angehört) und seiner Reduktion der Gegenstände auf eine bloße Gegebenheit in der Wahrnehmung widersteht

    This book reconstructs the tradition of dialectic from Aristotle's Topics, its founding text, up to its "renaissance" in 16th century Italy, and focuses on the role of dialectic in the production of knowledge. Aristotle defines dialectic as a structured exchange of questions and answers and thus links it to dialogue and disputation, while Cicero develops a mildly skeptical version of dialectic, identifies it with reasoning in utramque partem and connects it closely to rhetoric. These two interpretations constitute the backbone of the living tradition of dialectic and are variously developed in the Renaissance against the Medieval background. The book scrutinizes three separate contexts in which these developments occur: Rudolph Agricola's attempt to develop a new dialectic in close connection with rhetoric, Agostino Nifo's thoroughly Aristotelian approach and its use of the newly translated commentaries of Alexander of Aphrodisias and Averroes, and Carlo Sigonio's literary theory of the dialogue form, which is centered around Aristotle's Topics. Today, Aristotelian dialectic enjoys a new life within argumentation theory: the final chapter of the book briefly revisits these contemporary developments and draws some general epistemological conclusions linking the tradition of dialectic to a fallibilist view of knowledge.
