Qu’il s’agisse du sacrifice au sens propre ou de l’artifice, la notion demeure riche en interprétations et traduit le caractère unique des littératures francophones. Don de soi ou don de l’autre, l’étude du sacrifice nous permet de comprendre l’Histoire d’hommes et de femmes pris dans le tourbillon de leur culture respective face au « destin »

Poétiques de la relation et du divers dans les espaces francophones propose de saisir créateurs associés à la « périphérie » dans une nouvelle dynamique transversale, transnationale, indépendante de la médiation d’un centre dominant. C'est dire que la « littérature-monde », tout en mettant en cause les dispositifs traditionnels des systèmes et des champs inhérents aux configurations littéraires nationales, cautionne le renforcement d’un espace inter-systémique d’échanges dans lequel les aires francophones de la périphérie nouent entre elles des relations aussi bien institutionnelles que discursives. Affranchie de tout impérialisme culturel, la littérature-monde cherche de la sorte à promouvoir des pratiques inclusives d’insertion et de communication entre littératures dans l’optique d’un échiquier réorganisé du monde des lettres. Elle s’attaque au mythe du monolithisme culturel, se veut une critique de l’état actuel élitiste du domaine littéraire centriste qui se maintient dans une ségrégation délibérée ou inconsciente par rapport aux auteurs francophones et francophiles. Par ce livre, nous espérons apporter une contribution pertinente aux échanges théoriques et empiriques entourant la « littérature-monde », concept devenu incontournable pour quiconque est soucieux du développement et de l’avenir de la littérature de langue française

Through readings of French and Arabic texts by writers including Zahia Rahmani, Yamina Mechakra, Waciny Laredj, Fadhma Aíth Mansour Amrouche, Frantz Fanon, Assia Djebar, and Samira Negrouche, the book centers Algeria as an important nexus of aesthetic creation and theoretical contestation. Its argument foregrounds the impasses and disjunctions brought to light by this constellation of literary texts to demonstrate how Algerian writers have transformed the genre of testimony in ways that both defy imposed linguistic partitions and dispute the authority of the state to be the ultimate arbiter of justice

    Over the past two decades, interest in travel has developed significantly. Critical engagement with imperialism, postcolonialism, diasporas, ethnography, and cultural anthropology has led to increasingly sophisticated readings of the travel writing genre and a growing acknowledgement of its complex history. This book is the first study of its kind to identify a specifically Sub-Saharan African lineage within the broader tradition of travel writing. As well as exploring the reasons for Africans' exclusion from the genre, it examines the important relationship between ethnicity and travel, and identifies the concerns and preoccupations that define African writers' approaches to travel.

In a context of open identity politics in the US, intercultural imposture makes perfect sense. But in France, where a universalist Republican ideology holds sway, it is more paradoxical: is there any otherness to be stolen?     Cet ouvrage propose d'explorer et de discuter de l'état conflictuel du "moi" - ou "self" (mot anglais qui nous semble plus adapté à l'essence de l'être humain) - toujours émergeant dans les nouveaux États francophones africains et au niveau de leur diaspora. Aussi, à cet état d'être ontologique "tumultueux" s'ajoute la confusion que le magnétisme du phénomène de mondialisation exerce de manière irrésistible sur le moi, en brouille avec le sujet francophone. Cette brouille s'insinue dans les moindres recoins de la conscience et de l'inconscient de l'être, les régit en moulant le quotidien et la pensée des sujets en question. Par conséquent, une discussion analytique des champs d'expression de l'imbroglio dans lequel habite l'ex-colonisé est toujours de mise, même après plus de six décennies d'"indépendance" et d'"autogouvernance" pour les dites "nouvelles nations".
