    Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Philosophen Emmanuel Levinas und dem persischen Dichter Hafis, die als genuine Denker der Situation vorgestellt werden. Levinas und Hafis folgend, versucht die Autorin aufzuweisen, dass unser Sein immer ein In-Situation-sein ist. Das "In" zeigt dabei nicht ein "Innen" im Gegensatz zu einem "Außen" an. Hingegen ist der Mensch in Situationen sowohl Innen als auch Außen. Situation ist jedoch kein bestimmter Zustand des Seins des Menschen, sondern Weise des Daseins, im wie des Seins. Dieses In-sein schließlich wird von der Autorin, und hierin folgt sie explizite Emmanuel Levinas, übersetzt als Ausgesetztheit. Ausgesetztheit als solche ist Ur-Situation, Situation der Situation und somit ein anderer Ausdruck für das Beziehungs-sein. Das Beziehungssein aber hat sein Äußerstes in der Liebe. Liebe jedoch ist nicht deshalb unbedingt, weil sie eine bloße Steigerung des Lebensgefühls bedeutete, auf die der Mensch "aus ist". Liebe ist Grunderfahrung und als solche eine Bewegung, die sich von sich her übersteigert. Liebe bewahrt die Kontinuität des Lebens als Relatio. Denn Liebe "relativiert" nicht das "Böse des Schmerzes" aufgrund des Guten der Heiligkeit. Liebe ist Ertragen im Schmerz, Aufenthalt in der Heiligkeit. So situiert sie als reine Passivität und Empfänglichkeit stets "jenseits von Gut und Böse". ...

    Translating Hafiz: Challenges and Strategies examines to what extent mystical concepts in the poetry of Hafiz can be conveyed in the process of translation. Focusing on three English translations of the great Persian poet—who exercised a profound impact on prominent European and American poets such as Goethe, Emerson, and Tennyson—authors Saman Rezaei and Ali Salami assess the extent to which the translators have succeeded in transferring the mystical concepts in English. This book also investigates the strategies employed by translators based on Lefevere’s strategies of literary translation. Translating Hafiz ascertains how successful the translators have been in rendering these terms in English and which strategy is the best one in translating poetry, particularly classical poetry, into English.
