    Abstract: Fictional narratives concerning science and technology, and specifically science fictionnarratives, are centred upon questions of difference, alterity and Otherness. Thoughnot representing classical science fiction texts, the analyzed novels display a key roleattributed to technological advancement and thus incorporate and discuss that centralquestion of Otherness in external and internal representation. Firstly, Ian McEwan's novel Machines Like Me (2019) and Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Klara and the Sun (2021) superficially deal with human-machine interaction, but also more subtly mirrorhumaneness in contrast to a perfectionist Machine Otherness that, in turn, questionshuman morality. Secondly, Juli Zeh's novel Leere Herzen (Empty Hearts) (2017) and Julia von Lucadou's novel Die Hochhausspringerin (The High Rise Diver) (2018) subconsciously display the more disruptive influences of Artificial Intelligence onsocieties.     Abstract: William Hertling's A.I. Apocalypse (2012) is a post-apocalyptic novel about vulnerability of modern technological life against superintelligence. The novel shows living in an A.I-controlled society behind a revolution or revolt by self-controlling machines. A personified computer virus infects all the world's computers. As a result, it leads to disruption in main factors of human life - billions of people are about to die. A novel in which, Hertling warns of dehumanization under the shadow of superintelligence to challenge our minds to ponder about such a future. This study attempts to demonstrate that Hertling criticizes singularity and intelligence explosion in which mankind are entrapped in A.I-controlled society. It also investigates probable bilateral relation between dehumanization and intelligence explosion

    Abstract: Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem Verhältnis der Sphären des Technischen und des Ästhetischen. Technik und Ästhetik stehen sich spätestens seit der Industrialisierung diametral gegenüber, nicht weniger als Arbeit und Spiel. Eine vom Dualismus geprägte Denkweise stellt das Reich der Freiheit dem Reich der Notwendigkeit gegenüber, separiert eine ästhetische Welt von der technischen. Arbeit wird zur Technik gezählt. In deren Zweckorientierung und Determiniertheit sieht man - konträr zur Sphäre des Ästhetischen - in der ästhetischen Erziehung bzw. Bildung und darüber hinaus immer wieder die kreative Eigentätigkeit und damit die Freiheit des Menschen gefährdet - unabhängig davon, dass durch Technik der Mensch sich lebenserleichternde Maschinen und technische Systeme schafft. So werden schließlich die Künste und Spiel einerseits, Arbeit und Technik andererseits als sich prinzipiell ausschließende Tätigkeiten bewertet.
