    Abstract: "Im Mittelpunkt dieses discussion papers steht die Zufriedenheit der Bundesbürger mit dem bestehenden deutschen demokratischen System. Die Argumentation zielt darauf ab, daß sowohl die Leistungsfähigkeit der Wirtschaft wie der Regierung das Ausmaß der Zufriedenheit der Bevölkerung mit dem politischen System bestimmen. Dieser theoretische Ansatz widerspricht der These von der kulturellen Fundierung demokratischer Stabilität und der daraus abgeleiteten Behauptung, daß die politische Kultur mit ihren sich nur allmählich wandelnden Eigenschaften zur stabilen Verankerung des politischen Systems beiträgt. Die hier präsentierten Ergebnisse machen deutlich, welchen Preis das politische System für die Wiedervereinigung zahlen mußte. In den neuen Bundesländern ist die Zufriedenheit mit dem politischen System der Bundesrepuklik noch immer sehr gering - und diese Unzufriedenheit macht sich auch in Westdeutschland breit.     Abstract: "Viewed in the light of the theory of accidental excellence, there is much to suggest that the success of the Internet and its various protocols derives from a communications technology accident, or better, a series of accidents. In the early 1990s, many experts still saw the Internet as an academic toy that would soon vanish into thin air again. The Internet probably gained its reputation as an academic toy largely because it violated the basic principles of traditional communications networks. The quarrel about paradigms that erupted in the 1970s between the telephony world and the newly emerging Internet community was not, however, only about transmission technology doctrines. It was also about the question - still unresolved today - as to who actually governs the flow of information: the operators or the users of the network?     Abstract: The present work tries to recognize in the novel Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell aspects related to romantic aesthetics. We believe we notice, in this novel about English magic, the legacy and survival of the romantic spirit. The general objective of the essay is to highlight different characteristics of this novel by Susanna Clarke, which refer to the considerations of romanticism. In particular, we are interested in to analyze on the personage of Jonathan Strange, in order to recognize in his figure topics associated with romanticism such as fantasy, imagination, love, passion, etc. Strange’s figure seems to show the same epistemological optimism that the Romantics showed in the late Eighteenth Century. The romantic atmosphere, the historical setting and the language used in the dialogues of the novel show that romanticism is not only a historical moment, but a cultural form that is still fascinating in culture

    Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyse the potential of literary tourism in Portugal and explore the advantages of creating a digital literary map about the places associated with the widely renowned Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa (hereafter Pessoa), as well as the places that he suggests in one of his works, a tourist guide of Lisbon: What the Tourist Should See (1925). Methods: Firstly, a study of the state of art of the key concepts was made in order to apply them in the second part, the methodology, in the case of studying Lisbon from Pessoa's perspective. Then, allying personal taste for the writer/author with interest in cultural promotion gave rise to a digital literary map of Pessoa’s Lisbon. Methodologically, a questionnaire was applied covering a sample of 173 valid literary tourists. Auf der Grundlage einer kulturwissenschaftlich orientierten Bildwissenschaft rekonstruiert der Autor Ursprung und Wandel von Plötzlichkeitsmotiven, um die daraus entstehenden Semantiken und Faszinationseffekte zu ermitteln. Ausgehend von Beispielen aus der wissenschaftlichen, populärkulturellen, journalistischen und Mode-Ikonografie werden Produktionen des visuell Außergewöhnlichen verfolgt sowie überraschende Verbindungen zwischen unterschiedlichen Visualitätskulturen aufgezeigt. Inspiriert von diesem machtkritischen Ansatz, der in besonderer Weise für hierarchische Raumstrukturen und gesellschaftliche Positionierungskämpfe sensibilisiert, spüren die Autorinnen und Autoren des interdisziplinären Bandes dem Mediengebrauch in unterschiedlichen sozialen Kontexten nach.     Abstract: Wie die Kunstproduktion mit der sie umgebenden Kultur verknüpft ist und wie sich beide gegenseitig beeinflussen, ist eine zentrale Fragestellung für die - nicht nur soziologisch motivierte - Kunst- und Kulturtheorie. Die Antworten des in Peru geborenen Kunstkritikers und Kulturtheoretikers Juan Acha (1916-1995) auf diese Frage machen sein Werk zu einem außerordentlichen Beitrag zu der disziplinübergreifenden Debatte um Kunstproduktion und Kultur, der im deutschsprachigen Raum bisher nicht wahrgenommen wurde. Die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Modell der fuzzy-culture erfolgt sowohl differenztheoretisch als auch hinsichtlich der praktischen Eignung des Modells, exemplifiziert im Rahmen der Vermittlung interkultureller Kompetenzen in der öffentlichen Verwaltung.     Abstract: Rejecting substantializing and essentializing concepts of culture, an understanding of culture that is epistemologically and hermeneutically motivated is outlined. In this view, culture is seen as a perspective or orientation that makes it possible to understand human actions, mind, and other psychological phenomena in a context without which they would not be understandable. This context only becomes intelligible if it is subject to interpretation, that is, if it is understood as a multilayered text, a narrative, a novel with countless plots, perspectives, levels of time, and spheres of emotion. Such narrative interpretation, it is argued, is what happens in cultural understanding. This argument is illustrated by an analysis of several forms of autobiographical identity

    Abstract: 'Der Beitrag diskutiert 'Wahrheit' als ein eine instituierende gesellschaftliche Institution. Im Kontext von Heiliger Veronika, wahrem Zeichen ('veron ikon') und der heilpflanzlichen Veronica wird der fiktionale Charakter von Wahrheit aufgezeigt. Der Initiationsstatus des Geständnisses als das Diskursritual des Wahrsprechens ('parrhesia') in der abendländischen Kultur offenbart den Fetischcharakter der eingeforderten 'Wahrheit'. Dabei setzt Demokratie die Redefreiheit ebenso voraus, wie sie von der ausgesprochenen Wahrheit infrage gestellt wird. Skizziert wird diese Wahrheitslogik und -dialektik am historischen Beispiel des vor 30 Jahren dienstsuspendierten Psychologieprofessors Peter Brückner und seiner Haltung zur 'institutionellen Umklammerung des Lebens'.'
