    Abstract: Historical research on World War II and the impact of large-scale violence largely depends on the availability of source materials: diaries, newspapers, eyewitness accounts, archival documents, photographs and videos, etc. Currently, these resources are held by a large number of memory institutions, often in analogue formats. For scholars, it can be challenging to find out which collections are relevant for their research and also what information can be found in these collections. In this article it is argued that Semantic Web technologies, together with new digital tooling to automatically open up collections and interlink their contents, have the potential to revolutionize future access and use. By making the contents of collections machine-readable and enriching them with links to reference data, a shift can be made from a "web of documents" to a "web of data."     Abstract: Der Beitrag untersucht in einer Längsschnittanalyse die Entwicklung der Ereignisse, die aus Gruppenbezogener Menschenfeindlichkeit (GMF) und Rechtsextremismus heraus motiviert sind. Grundlage hierfür ist die Dokumentation von chronik.LE, in der Gewalt- und Propaganda-Aktionen organisierter und nichtorganisierter Neonazis und rechter Akteur*innen sowie Vorfälle von Rassismus, Antisemitismus und Sexismus in der Stadt Leipzig und den Landkreisen Leipzig und Nordsachsen dokumentiert sind. Dabei werden drei Perspektiven herausgearbeitet: eine diachrone, eine inhaltliche und eine geografische. Die inhaltliche Auswertung wird mittels Topic Modeling umgesetzt. Dadurch werden verschiedene Akteur*innen, Veränderungen der Ausdrucksformen einzelner Diskriminierungsformen und der Aktionen rechter und rechtsextremer Akteur*innen sowie darauf aufbauend geografische Schwerpunkte aufgezeigt.     Abstract: In this article, we retrace how sustainability in our study has been communicatively constructed and how it emerged as a dynamic, but also a relatively stable, social fiction. Also, we contribute to methodological reflections on the practical relevance of the (social) imaginary for action. We rely on an empirical study that explores social science-based conversations between and among individuals who talk about the sustainability of their everyday lives. Within daily life people act sustainably to a limited extent, in conflict to the universal claim of sustainability and its normative validity. The respondents see themselves confronted with this well-known dilemma. With the aid of the documentary method, and drawing on our empirical data, we elaborate on the communicative strategies used to meet the difficult combination of sustainability's demands. We focus on patterns of justification, normative-imaginary thought experiments, and rhetorical distancing from the need for action of

    Abstract: To write about clients is an established routine in countless institutional settings, regardless of the fact that clients themselves seldom feel that the produced texts mirror or summarize their experiences. But what, more specifically, is left unwritten when staff starts typing on the keyboard to insert a piece of daily life into the computer? This article draws on data on violent events in Swedish detention homes, covering, on the one hand, interview accounts collected by ethnographic researchers and, on the other hand, formal journal reports on the "same" event written by staff. The analysis of one case exemplifies what written versions of a violent ward drama omit or transform: staff members' "separation work" of the fighting actors and their local manufacturing of accountability, the involved actors' conflict explanations in terms of ethnicity, gang culture, and "the first blow", young people's way of linking their self-control to the institution's privilege system, and moral

    Abstract: Die wissenschaftliche oder publizistische Arbeit macht es häufig erforderlich, eine größere Zahl von Textdokumenten zu sichten, nach inhaltlichen Gesichtspunkten zu erschließen und bezüglich ihrer Verwertbarkeit für unterschiedliche Fragestellungen zu bewerten. Beispiele sind Medien- und Fachveröffentlichungen, Reden, Interviews, Gruppendiskussionen, Protokolle und Mitschriften von Arbeitssitzungen. Die Globalauswertung von Dokumenten richtet sich nach der Art der Dokumente und der Art der Fragestellungen, welche eventuell in einem späteren Arbeitsschritt gezielt bearbeitet werden sollen. Die hier beschriebene Methode der Globalauswertung orientiert sich am sozialwissenschaftlichen Akteursmodell (s. Kap. Diskursanalyse). Danach werden Texte, seien sie schriftlich verfaßt oder nachträglich verschriftete Rede, (1) von Akteuren in kommunikativer Absicht produziert und beziehen sich (2) im weitesten Sinne auf Handlungszusammenhänge, die einen Ausschnitt aus der sozialen Wirklichkeit da
