    Öffentliche Angelegenheiten, d.h. das Gemeinwesen betreffende Aufgaben und Fragen, sind zentraler Gegenstand des Regierungs- und Verwaltungshandelns. Dieses kann in seinen verschiedenen Rationalitäten und Erscheinungsformen nur im interdisziplinären Austausch gebührend erschlossen werden. Die Zusammenführung der Erkenntnisse unterschiedlicher Fachdisziplinen ist Ziel einer integrativen Verwaltungswissenschaft und Regierungslehre, wie sie Klaus König konzeptualisiert hat. Auf dem anlässlich seines 80. Geburtstages abgehaltenen Symposium diskutierten Vertreter verschiedener Fachrichtungen grundsätzliche Fragen des Wandels öffentlicher Angelegenheiten, demokratischer Entscheidungsprozesse, der Föderalismusreform, der Sicherstellung effizienter Energieversorgung sowie der Regierungslehre und einer transnationalen Verwaltungsrechtswissenschaft.
