    "Letter to Lagat ist der Beginn eines Briefwechsels mit dem Nationalmuseum in Nairobi (Kenia). Gedanklicher Ausgangspunkt ist das plötzliche Verschwinden einer Sammlung afrikanischer Kunst und Ethnografika aus einer europäischen Institution. Der reale Ort, der dazu als Bühne zur Verfügung stand, ist das Iwalewahaus in Bayreuth (Deutschland). Spuren auf dem Boden der leeren Archivräume erzählen von mehr als drei Jahrzehnten Sammlungsgeschichte, sie zeigen Laufwege der Mitarbeiter und ehemalige Standorte von Schränken und Vitrinen. Letter to Lagat ist ein Künstlerbuch, das über Kraft und Wirkung von Objekten in postkolonialen Sammlungen im "globalen Norden" meditiert. Ist das Museum nur eine Station von vielen? Sind Gegenstände etwa selbst tätig und haben Einfluss auf ihre Bewegungen? Was sind die Auswirkungen der zunehmenden musealen Praxis von 3D-Scan und Replikat? [...] Obwohl Letter to Lagat auf der einen Seite eine Parabel über Besitz und Verlust ist, geht es auf der anderen Seite um eine real existierende historisch-politische Beziehung zwischen Europa und seinen ehemaligen Kolonien.     A Host of Devils provides an in-depth account of the background, origin and development of the spirit figure sculptures which emerged during colonial times among the Makonde people of Mozambique. The creation of such works is shown to connect with a regional system of knowledge and practice, within which spirits function as a format for expression. The book describes the ways in which the sculpture emerged, as well as the author's experience of learning how to carve.
