Man kan bare tænke på beretningen i 1. Mosebog om slangen, der forfører Eva til at spise af frugten fra kundskabens træ.0Forføreren er den, der kan skaffe sig herredømme over andre menneskers bevidsthed og få dem til at gøre, hvad han eller hun vil, mens de tror, at det er i deres egen interesse. Derfor er der også illusioner på spil, hvor der sker forførelse. Men ikke altid omvendt.0Litteraturen er et godt sted at søge, hvis man vil blive klogere på de kræfter, der binder eller frigør den menneskelige bevidsthed. Graviditet, abort, begær, kræft, handicap, selv tarmenes bakterier er rykket ind i bøgerne som væsentligt litterært stof, og de er det i hovedreglen på måder, hvor det komplekse følelsesliv, de udløser, er i centrum. ?Kødets poiesis? udforsker denne strømning ud fra den idé, at de mange kropsportrætter udfordrer en stribe diskurs- og sprogorienterede tilgange i dansk litteratur-videnskab ved først og fremmest at skildre legemet som egenrådigt kød, der gør, hvad det vil, mindst lige så ofte som det gør, hvad der bliver sagt.
