Um diese Frage zu beantworten, werden in diesem Buch bewusst unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen und Perspektiven gewählt, um die Bedeutung und Funktion von Sprachen für die Identitätsbildung darzustellen. Auch der Blick über den eigenen Tellerrand darf folglich nicht ausbleiben, weshalb neben deutschdidaktischen Fragestellungen Überlegungen zu Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache sowie Ansätze aus der anglistischen Fremdsprachendidaktik vorgestellt werden.
