    Deutschland leidet seit Jahren weniger unter hohen Konjunkturschwankungen als vielmehr unter einem schwachen Wirtschaftswachstum. Gleichwohl wird immer wieder eine expansive Fiskalpolitik gefordert, um vermeintliche konjunkturelle Instabilitäten zu überwinden. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird untersucht, wie wirksam eine nationale Stabilisierungspolitik überhaupt sein kann. Dabei spricht die Gesamtheit der im Einzelnen analysierten Argumente klar gegen eine nachfrageorientierte Fiskalpolitik. Mit einer angebotsorientierten Wirtschaftspolitik können hingegen sowohl unter klassischen als auch unter keynesianischen Rahmenbedingungen alle drei zentralen wirtschaftspolitischen Ziele zugleich erreicht werden: ein höheres Wirtschaftswachstum, eine zunehmende Beschäftigung und stabile Preise.
