    This is the extended abstract for a workshop at the Spatial Humanities 2022 conference in Ghent, Belgium, 7th-9th September 2022. This workshop aims to help researchers, digital curators and data managers learn how to make datasets of 3D models available as linked open data within a collaborative annotation and presentation-ready environment. Participants will take part in practical demonstrations using an integrated toolchain that connects OpenRefine (for data reconciliation and batch upload), Wikibase (for linked open data storage), and Kompakkt (for rendering and annotating 3D models). This toolchain and associated workflow was developed in the context of NFDI4Culture, a German consortium of research and cultural institutions working towards a shared infrastructure for research data that meets the needs of 21st century data creators, maintainers and end users across the broad spectrum of the cultural heritage field and the Digital Humanities. The workshop will emphasize the possibility to combine geo locations and other geo data drawn from authority records in the LOD cloud to 3D architectural models and reconstructions.

    Dieser Beitrag stellt diverse visuelle Experimente vor, bei denen insbesondere mediale Transformationsprozesse und sowohl Vorgang als auch Ergebnis von Modellierungsprozessen im Fokus stehen. Bei den ausgewählten Beispielen entstehen durch den Einsatz und die Entwicklung von Softwaresystemen unterschiedliche visuelle Artefakte. Zentral ist dabei, dass die Experimente nur auf Grundlage von Modellen und in Verbindung mit Modellierungsprozessen durchgeführt werden können. Dies ist substantiell für den Erkenntnisgewinn und die analytischen Betrachtungen insgesamt, wie in diesem Beitrag aufgezeigt wird. Darüber hinaus wird dargelegt, dass sich visuelle Experimente in den digitalen Geisteswissenschaften nie ohne Modelle unterschiedlichster Arten durchführen lassen.

    Abstract: The international workshop “Thinking in Practice” was organized to explore scholarly modelling from the perspectives of researchers belonging to various disciplines. This focus on interdisciplinarity made the workshop unlike other academic meetings. Therefore it was important to build an environment and create a surrounding to share not only explicit knowledge connected to the ordinary scholarly work of the participants, but also to invite them to share their implicit knowledge, which often happens in a complex secluded network of relationships, removed from conscious knowledge sharing. Taking these aspects into account, this article reflects upon the created workshop model from an abstract view, outlining the selection of participants, location and format and how the planning contributed to a notably successful event
