    ger: Diese Dissertation untersucht das narrative Widerstands- und Erneuerungspotential afro-britischer Sklavenerzählungen des achtzehnten und neunzehnten Jahrhunderts. Die Studie konzeptualisiert Sklaventexte als frühe Beispiele postkolonialer Gegendiskurse und liest die Primärtexte als potentielle (1) counter-stories (cf. Lindemann Nelson 2001),(2) autoethnographische Texte (cf. Marie Pratt 1992) und (3) Traumaerzählungen. eng: This thesis offers an in-depth scrutiny of ten texts published between 1734 and 1837. Starting from the supposition that slave narratives possess an inherent and multifunctional potential of resistance and regeneration, this study examines how the discursive strands of narrative counteraction and healing manifest, converge and interact in Afro-British slave texts of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Aimed to examine the subversive and healing propensities of slave narratives, this thesis conceptualises the selected texts as possible specimens of (1) counter-stories (cf. Hilde Lindemann Nelson 2001), (2) (auto)ethnographic texts (cf. Marie Pratt 1992) and (3) trauma narratives.
