    Abstract ; Die Entwicklungsschübe der modernen Medien im 20. Jahrhundert haben die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen den Künsten, den Medien, den Sinnesmodalitäten, den verbalen und nonverbalen Ausdrucks- und Zeichenprozessen verstärkt und erweitert. Im Zuge dieser Entwicklungen sind Genre- und Formatfragen über das disziplinäre Interesse einzelner Kunst- und Medienwissenschaften hinaus ins Aufmerksamkeitsfeld einer vergleichenden Medienästhetik und -dramaturgie ge-rückt. Aufbauend auf den Erkenntnissen von Kalisch 2014, 2016 und den Überlegungen Gaudreaults 2009 zu einer Unterscheidung zwischen Narration und Monstration, ist es gelungen ein Modell zur Analyse von Werken unter dem Ausgangspunkt von Dramaturgie und Präsentationsstruktur herauszubilden, das für jedwedes dramaturgisch motiviertes und fiktionales Werk verwendet werden kann, unab-hängig vom Medium. Als Mittel zur Verdeutlichung der Thesen wird Horror als ästhetische Kategorie definiert, die einen direkten Einfluss auf die narrativen Strukturen eines Werkes besitzt, was den narrativ-monstrativen Doppelcharakter von Werken belegt und ferner verdeutlicht, dass Erzählung und Formung eines Werkes untrennbar verbunden sind. Die Dualität von Dramaturgie und Präsenta-tionsstruktur wird in der Formung eines Werkes offenbar. Um dies zu verdeutli-chen, werden im Verlauf der Arbeit kursorisch Beispiele von Werken mit Schre-ckensinhalten diskutiert und analysiert. Basierend auf diesem Modell wird eine Diskussion des Themenkomplexes von Intermedialität und Transmedialität im Spannungsverhältnis zur Komparistik der Künste durchgeführt. In der Folge wird eine Ästhetik des Schreckens diskutiert und anhand von ästhetischen Wertungskategorien aufgezeigt. Abschließend werden drei narrativ-motivierte Konzeptionen für dramaturgisch angetriebene Schre-ckensinszenierungen aufgeführt, die zur Kategorisierung von Werken angewendet werden können: düstere Präfiguration, düstere Konfiguration und düstere Manifestation. ; Abstract ; The development in modern media during the 20th century (from movies over television to the hybrid forms of audiovisual and textual media in the internet) reveals interdependencies between art, media, the modalities of senses, the verbal and nonverbal dictions and semiotic processes that have evolved and expanded themselfes. According to this progress the interest in art and media studies should achive a collective interest in the changes of genre and formats, instead of a sepa-rated observation of only single disciplines. Following the Prolegomena on a comperative drama of media by Eleonore Ka-lisch (Kalisch 2014) and the thougts of André Gaudreault on Narration and Mon-stration (Gaudreault 2009) this thesis bulids a system to analyse works of fiction (e. g. movies, pictures, literature, video games). This system allows to analyse and compare works of fiction based on drama and presentation structure. The horror genre is used to show the mechanics of this system. Horror has a direct influence on the narrative structure of a work and manifests a duality of narration and mon-stration (Kalisch 2016), that binds drama and presentation to each other and shows the necessity of a separated consideration on both aspects. The duality of drama and presentation reveals itself during the modeling of a work of fiction. Build on the system the discourse is open to discuss intermetiality and transmedi-ality and their influence on the field of interest. Furthermore, an aesthetic of hor-ror is defined by evaluation categories of aesthetic indicators. In the end three types of narrativ driven concepts of horror are revealed and discussed: gloomy pre-figuaration, gloomy configuration and gloomy manifestation.

    Stewart Parker described his final play, Pentecost, as one appropriate to his own generation, ‘making its own scruffy way onto the stage of history, and from there to the future tense’. This article argues that it is this concern with entering ‘the future tense’ which allies his work with the writings of the messianic marxist, Ernst Bloch, and his belief in ‘anticipatory illumination’. Read in this way Parker's plays are liberated from the negative reading of them as informed by ‘sentimental piety’ and ‘a species of liberal humanism’ and sees them as creating what Bloch termed ‘concrete utopias’ which ‘imply a real future’. In his John Malone memorial lecture of 1986 Parker asked ‘should plays aim to instruct?’. His answer to this question, which informs all his work, was an uncompromising ‘Yes’. His work, like that of Brecht with whom he shared a belief in theatre as an ‘entertaining’ means of social transformation, merits serious consideration for producing what Stephen Rea termed ‘a vision of a harmonious possibility on the other side of violence’. In Bloch's view ‘A map of the world that does not include Utopia is not even worth glancing at’. Parker's drama provided - and provides - just such maps by which the future can not simply be dreamed, but realised.

    How did romanticism define its relationship with its sources? How has romanticism since been understood and misunderstood across a range of cultural activities. These are among the questions taken up in this reexamination of the place of adaptation within romanticism. Renegotiating the cultural topography of the period and the place of romanticism in subsequent cultural history, the volume focuses on the adaptation of source material by romantic writers and the adaptation in subsequent periods of the tropes and ideologies associated with romanticism. In place of a hierarchical distinction between source and text, between 'romanticism' and its contexts, the collection identifies distinct but overlapping and mutually constitutive genres such as the Gothic and romance. Whether their essays deal with early nineteenth-century periodical reviews, affordable editions of Price and Prejudice aimed at the late nineteenth-century mass audience, or the ongoing cultural presence of romanticism in late twentieth- and early twenty-first-century debates about embryology and stem cell research, the contributors remain cognizant of the tension between the processes of adaptation and the apparent ideology of romantic originality.

Eine begrifflich besser erschlossene Ausnahme stellt allenfalls das tribunal play als eigenständiges Genre dar. Einer gattungsbegrifflichen Festlegung stehen die sehr unterschiedlichen Funktionen entgegen, die Gerichtsprozessen in englischsprachigen Dramen zukommen. This resistance against generic pigeonholing is also reflected in the diverse functions dramatic trials may serve; as explained in more detail below, they further suspense or channel voyeuristic impulses, negotiate individual or collective responsibilities and identities, interrogate constructions of 'truth', debate moral questions, intervene into socio-political discourse, or criticise legal institutions.

    Shakespeares Dramen sind die einflussreichsten literarischen Texte englischer Sprache. In der Fülle seines Oeuvres findet sich nicht eine durchgehende und konsistente Vorstellung von 'dem Recht', die der Autor verfochten hätte, doch potentielle Konflikte zwischen Recht und Gerechtigkeit werden in etlichen Stücken in vielfältig aufschlussreicher und diskursprägender Weise durchgespielt. In der Tat erscheinen Recht und Gerechtigkeit in vielen Stücken Shakespeares als zentrale Themen, wobei das Spektrum vom manifesten Unrecht königlicher Weisungen bis zu bürgerlichen Pflichten reicht. Dementsprechend wurden einige dieser Stücke für die "Law and Literature"- Bewegung von Beginn an zu immer wieder diskutierten Standardbeispielen. ; As the most influential text in the English language, Shakespeare's works have been a staple for the law and literature movement since its early beginnings. Law and justice are major themes in many of the plays and their dramatisation ranges from kings' incompetence to civil ethics. Given the range of the plays, there is no monolithic idea of 'the law' that Shakespeare worked with but the potential conflict between law and justice finds itself in more plays than one. Accordingly, Shakespeare has been regarded a useful instrument in law schools all over this world since the early 20th century and the literary side of the law and literature movement has produced innumerable works on 'the law' in Shakespeare.

    Die vorliegende Arbeit bewegt sich im Feld der kontrastiven Pragmatik und vergleicht die Realisierungen äquivalenter direktiver Sprechakte im Deutschen und Englischen. Der Begriff des direktiven Sprechakts wird in dieser Arbeit enger gefasst als von Searle (1975) intendiert. Als Datenquelle fungieren Dramentexte in der Originalsprache und der Übersetzung in der jeweils anderen Sprache. Die vier ausgewählten Texte sind Brechts „Mutter Courage und Ihre Kinder“, Dürrenmatts „Die Physiker“, Osbornes „Look Back in Anger“ und Leighs „Abigail‘s Party“.Die zentralen Fragen der Untersuchung sind: Welche formalen Realisierungen stehen in den jeweiligen Sprachen zur Verfügung? Welchen funktionalen Stellenwert haben die Formen im System der jeweiligen Sprache? Wie verhalten sich die die Formen in den Sprachen zueinander?Generell sind Realisierungen als reguläre Sätze, irreguläre Sätze und nicht-satzförmig möglich. Für die regulären Sätze sind die Unterkategorien Imperativ, Deklarativ, Ja-Nein Frage und W-Frage in beiden Sprachen möglich; im Deutschen zudem Adhortativ und Infinitiv. Hier gibt es deutliche Unterschiede in der Häufigkeit. Generell verhalten sich Deutsch und Englisch relativ ähnlich in ihrem Gebrauch der einzelnen Satztypen. Eine detaillierte qualitative Beschreibung von Einzelfällen macht den Hauptteil der Untersuchung aus und beantwortet die Fragen: Welche Formen kommen als Äquivalenz vor? Unter welchen Bedingungen werden Deklarative und Fragen direktiv verwendet? Nicht-satzförmige Äußerungen spielen ebenfalls eine erhebliche Rolle. Hier greifen jedoch formale Kategorisierungen nicht, daher wurden diese Äußerungen nach funktionalen Aspekten gruppiert. Diese sind: Aussagegehalt, Beziehung zwischen Sprecher und Hörer, und illokutive Kraft. ; This thesis is situated in the field of contrastive pragmatics and compares the syntactic realizations of equivalent directive speech acts in English and German.
