The Speculative Fiction Novella (conference panel) (NeMLA 2024, Boston)

Beginning
07.03.2024
End
10.03.2024
Abstract submission deadline
30.09.2023

In the past decade, the novella has re-emerged as one of the dominant forms of contemporary speculative fiction, with both stand-alone debuts and long-running series taking part in the form. This session invites papers that examine the novella form in speculative fiction in a number of ways. Approaches might include analysis of specific contemporary speculative fiction novellas that incorporate a consideration of the form, analysis of various structures of novella series, industry analysis of the way publishing imprints such as Tor dot com have influenced the rise of the form and/or its place on the digital landscape, or examinations of short historical speculative fiction that we would now classify as novellas and might be seen to influence the form as it exists today.

This session will be part of the NeMLA 2024 conference in Boston - submit abstracts online, https://cfplist.com/nemla/Home/S/20304
