Heinrich Heine and Human Rights

Discussions of human rights are often informed by the canon of social and political thought. The panel explores how Heine’s poetry, prose, and critical writings intervene in, and contribute to, the 19th-century emergent debate on human rights and anticipate later human rights conceptions. Papers on Heine, his interlocutors, and on human rights discourse around 1848 are welcome.

Please send abstracts (200-250 words) to Sebastian Wogenstein wogenstein@uconn.edu by March 15, 2021.
