    The proceedings of the CIUTI FORUM 2014 outline in five chapters the different perspectives of academic excellence, pooled with entrepreneurship for new partnerships, focusing thus on an additional sense of innovation, fresh ideas and clever solutions in T&I training at universities. Therefore new projects of cooperation between universities and the market and international institutions are being presented, having always as a conditio sine qua non excellence and quality in training, paired with responsibility towards the students.     The United Nations have their own communicative culture in six languages ensuring effective communications in such a complex environment requires translators with a high level of translation competence. In addition, there is a growing demand for qualified translators with a strong command in communicative efficiency in the Arabic, Chinese and Russian languages. Whereas the languages services of the United Nations are highly centralized, the educational systems of the universities are extremely diverse and decentralized. Effective and efficient multilateral collaboration with the United Nations has therefore become a priority for CIUTI institutes. How can universities collaborate more efficiently with the United Nations in order to train translators for specific needs especially in the present years in which many vacancies come up? The CIUTI Forum took place in January 2007 at the United Nations in Geneva and was centered around the New Needs of the United Nations in language matters. Solutions to existing problems such as scarceness in certain language combinations as well as specific training needs pour UN-purposes were the main issues of this event. Within the framework of this Forum contributors emphasize the different approaches of how to integrate the new needs of the languages services of the United Nations into the training institutions, such as the importance of the necessary different forms of cultural communication in six languages in any kind of discipline.     Our current knowledge society, as exemplified in our universities, is booming. The socialization of knowledge production, along with the development of interand transdisciplinary research groupings within traditionally discipline-based teaching institutions is equally increasing, even to the extent, that new terminology is coined to better specify this cross-sector collaboration. One of these new concepts which have emerged within the framework of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity is heterogenic cooperation. This concept describes the bringing together of knowledge from different sources and can be observed mainly when specialists are dependent on skills and knowledge which do not exist within the framework of their own scientific domain. The ultimate result of heterogenic cooperation will enlarge any cooperation by integrating partners from different domains, fostering collaboration in a common project with a homogeneous result. In a nutshell: the pathway from heterogeneity to homogeneity. The proceedings of the CIUTI FORUM 2012 highlight different types of networks leading not only to better practices and academic quality but also to new and innovative partnerships.
