    Der Artikel rekonstruiert den historischen Gründungszusammenhang des Deutsch-Französischen Jugendwerks nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Dabei thematisiert er insbesondere Defizite eines westlichen Multilateralismus, die auch den auf dem Gedanken der Versöhnung stehenden Auftrag des DFJW problematisch erscheinen lassen. Denn die leitende Vorstellung der einen Menschheit durchbrach den eurozentrischen Universalismus nicht, wie er in der symbolischen Restauration einer europäischen Identität im Akt von Reims zum Ausdruck kommt, mit dem die Abgrenzung gegenüber den sich dekolonialisierenden Gesellschaften des globalen Südens weiterhin behauptet wurde. Davon ausgehend, dass nichts den Universalismus stärker in Frage gestellt hat, als die Dialektik der Moderne selbst, wird danach gefragt, wie ein neues Gemeinsames als Praxis hergestellt werden kann und welche Bedeutung Subjektivät und Erzählung in solchen Praktiken zukommt. Mit Blick auf die spezifische selbstreflexive Forschungsarbeit, die vom DFJW in internationalen Kontexten wie der Méditerranée ermöglicht wird, entfaltet der Artikel die These, dass eine Grundlangenforschung, die sich der Verwobenheit der globalisierten Welt zuwendet, keine Abstraktion von Lebensverhältnissen mehr vornehmen darf, will sie ihren Gegenstand nicht verfehlen. ; Dieser Artikel ist im Kontext des Projekts „Minor Universality. Narrative World Productions After Western Universalism“ entstanden, das vom Europäischen Forschungsrat (ERC) im Rahmen des Forschungsrahmenprogramms „Horizont 2020“ der Europäischen Union finanziert wird (Grant 819931).

    L'article reconstitue le contexte historique de fondation de l'Office Franco-allemand de la Jeunesse après la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il aborde en particulier les déficits du multilatéralisme occidental, qui ont rendu problématique aussi la mission du DFJW, fondée sur l'idée de réconciliation. En effet, l'idée directrice d'une humanité unie n'a pas ébranlé l'universalisme eurocentrique tel qu'il s'est exprimé dans la restauration symbolique d'une identité européenne à travers l'Acte de Reims. Au contraire, la démarcation par rapport aux sociétés décolonisatrices du Sud global a continué à être affirmée à travers lui. Partant du principe que rien n'a plus remis en question l'universalisme que la dialectique de la modernité elle-même, l'article s'interroge sur la manière dont un nouveau "en-commun" peut être produit en pratique et sur la signification de la subjectivité et de la narration dans de telles pratiques. En ce qui concerne le travail de recherche autoréflexive spécifique rendu possible par le DFJW dans des contextes internationaux tels que celui de la Méditerranée, l'article développe la thèse selon laquelle la recherche fondamentale qui se consacre aux intrications du monde globalisé ne peut plus se permettre de faire abstraction des conditions de vie si elle ne veut pas passer à côté de son sujet. ; European Research Council (ERC)

    This book suggests that linguistic translation is one minute province of an immense process of creative activity that constitutes the world as an ongoing dynamism of unceasing transformation. Building upon the speculative quantum gravity theory, which provides a narrative of the push-pull dynamics of transformative translation from the very smallest scales of reality to the very greatest, this book argues that the so-called ‘translative turn’ of the 1990s was correct in positing translation as a paradigmatic concept of transformation. More radically, the book stages a provocative ‘provincialization’ of linguistic translation, so that literary translation in particular is shown to display a remarkable awareness of its own participation in a larger creative ‘contact zone’. As a result, the German language, literary translations in and out of German, and the German-language classroom, can be understood respectively as ‘quantum’ contact zones. Russell West-Pavlov is Professor of Anglophone Literatures at the University of Tübingen and Research Associate at the University of Pretoria. Auch hier sind angemessene Methoden Mangelware. Eng damit verbunden ist ein weiteres, nicht zu unterschätzendes Problem Qualitativer Sozialforschung. Immer öfter sind die Interpretationsgruppen nicht mehr „monokulturell“ zusammengesetzt. Immer häufiger bestehen diese Gruppen aus Interpreten, die – kulturell betrachtet – divergente Interpretationshorizonte besitzen. Bei allen genannten Problemstellungen tauchen auf methodischer und methodologischer Ebene völlig neue Fragen für die Forschungspraxis auf.     The book investigates the European debate on culture and identity by pointing to those uses of language that shape the image and perception of migrants in host societies. The term 'foreigner' is highly sensitive to changes experienced by communities. Its meanings transcend its traditional semantic scope and lead to the discussion of notions such as nation, nationality, immigration, integration, citizenship, nationalism and multiculturalism. The words 'foreigner', 'Auslaender', 'extranjero' and the network of related terms are discussed from a multidisciplinary approach with the aim of identifying the core features of the concept of 'foreignness' in German, Spanish and English. Dieses Buch untersucht die europaeische Diskussion ueber Kultur und Identitaet. Im Zentrum steht dabei derjenige Sprachgebrauch, der das Bild und die Wahrnehmung hinsichtlich der Migranten in den Gastgeberlaendern praegt. Bei gesellschaftlichen Veraenderungen wandelt sich auch der Gehalt des Begriffs Auslaender. Seine Bedeutung geht ueber den traditionellen semantischen Rahmen hinaus und fuehrt zur Diskussion ueber Konzepte wie Nation, Nationalitaet, Migration, Integration, Buergerschaft, Nationalismus und Multikulturalitaet. Die Woerter 'foreigner', 'Auslaender', 'extranjero' und deren semantisches Umfeld werden fachuebergreifend behandelt, um die Grundmerkmale des Begriffs 'Fremdartigkeit' auf Deutsch, Englisch und Spanisch zu identifizieren.

    German idealism has attempted to think an absolute ground to self-conscious I-hood. As a result it has been theologically disqualified as pantheistic or even atheistic since many maintain that such a ground cannot be reconciled with a personal God. In the early writings of Friedrich Schelling (1775-1854), it is clear that he and his contemporaries were aware of this difficulty. His Tübinger fellow student, Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843), was convinced of the ultimate inadequacy of any philosophical system to grasp the unitary ground of all that is and turned to poetry. The metaphysical insights expressed in his poetry have been largely neglected in both philosophical and theological scholarship. Drawing on the 20th century metaphysics of Dieter Henrich and Karl Rahner, this book elaborates on Hölderlin's poetry. This results in a novel concept of God as both unitary and personal ground of I-hood.
