    Large parts of Leibniz’s opus historicum were not realised beyond preliminary work. Only this, therefore, can provide information about the planned content of the large-scale work. His notes, approximately 4000 in number, previously almost completely unknown and on mostly small pieces of paper, are evaluated in this article under various aspects. Since there is no precedent for the edition of such material, problems that it will pose to historico-critical treatment and presentation in Series V are repeatedly addressed, and from time to time suggestions for their solution are presented. First, Leibniz’s manner of excerpting and the difficulty of assigning the excerpts to the original texts are explained. A glance at the literature excerpted by Leibniz will then show that he himself excerpted intensively between 1685 and 1700, but later left most of this work to others. According to my hypothesis, this rationalising of the way of working was closely related to the decision to adopt the annalistic form for the Annales imperii. After this, the various systems with which Leibniz organized his notes are presented. Since the outlines of the planned work can only be discerned in the arrangement of the notes in which Leibniz organised them, the question is finally discussed to what extent this ordering is still preserved or can at least be reconstructed. L’opus historicum de Leibniz n’est pas allé au-delà des travaux préliminaires. Ils sont les seuls à pouvoir donner des informations sur le contenu prévu de l’oeuvre à grande échelle. Ces quelque 4000 notices presque totalement inconnues à ce jour sur des petites feuilles de papier sont évaluées sous différents aspects dans cet article. Comme il n’y a pas de modèle pour l’édition d’un tel matériel, cela soulève des problèmes qui se posent dans le travail d’établissement historico-critique et dans la présentation de la série V, et, de temps en temps, des propositions pour leur solution. Tout d’abord, on expliquera la façon dont Leibniz extrait les textes et la difficulté de faire correspondre les extraits aux sources. Un coup d’oeil à la littérature extraite de Leibniz montrera ensuite qu’entre 1685 et 1700, il a pratiqué lui-même intensivement les extraits, mais qu’il a ensuite laissé ce travail à d’autres. Cette rationalisation de la méthode de travail était - selon ma thèse - étroitement liée au choix de la forme annaliste des Annales imperii. Les différents systèmes utilisés par Leibniz pour organiser ses notes sont ensuite présentés. Étant donné que les contours de l’oeuvre planifiée ne se verront que dans la disposition des notes dans lesquelles Leibniz les a portées, on discutera finalement la question de savoir dans quelle mesure cet ordre est encore conservé ou au moins reconstituable. Leibniz’ opus historicum ist in weiten Teilen über Vorarbeiten nicht hinausgekommen. Nur sie können deshalb über den geplanten Inhalt des groß angelegten Werks Auskunft geben. Diese etwa 4000 bisher fast gänzlich unbekannten Notizen auf meist kleinen Zetteln werden in diesem Beitrag unter verschiedenen Aspekten ausgewertet. Da es für die Edition eines solchen Materials kein Vorbild gibt, werden dabei immer wieder Probleme angeschnitten, die es der historisch-kritischen Bearbeitung und der Präsentation in Reihe V stellen wird, und hin und wieder auch Vorschläge zu deren Lösung vorgetragen. Zunächst werden Leibniz’ Art zu exzerpieren und die Schwierigkeit erläutert, die Exzerpte den Vorlagen zuzuordnen. Ein Blick auf die von Leibniz exzerpierte Literatur wird sodann zeigen, dass er zwischen 1685 und 1700 intensiv selbst exzerpiert hat, diese Arbeit aber später zu einem guten Teil anderen überlassen hat. Diese Rationalisierung der Arbeitsweise hing - so meine These - eng mit der Entscheidung für die annalistische Form der Annales imperii zusammen. Anschließend werden die verschiedenen Systeme vorgestellt, mit deren Hilfe Leibniz seine Notizen geordnet hat. Da sich die Umrisse des geplanten Werkes nur in der Anordnung der Notizen wird erkennen lassen, in die Leibniz sie gebracht hat, wird abschließend die Frage diskutiert, inwiefern diese Ordnung noch erhalten oder wenigstens rekonstruierbar ist.

    Abstract: How does Digital Mappa, a browser-based annotation tool, fit into the current landscape of Virtual Research Environments? How is an intuitive WYSIWYG graphical user interface suited for simple (scholarly) editions and image-text representations? What about involving different users via crowdsourcing? For this review, we took three distinct perspectives (user, teacher, and backend admin) and tested the tool for text annotation but furthermore for linking images with text. Digital Mappa proves to be a stable, not-so-easy-to-set-up tool that covers a lot of ground concerning annotation and image linking. Subsuming, we describe a mature system that allows for easy editing, suitable in the classroom. Critically, it has been assessed that the tool refrains from standards (such as TEI XML) and lacks capabilities to involve larger groups (e.g. for crowdsourcing)

    In dieser Studie untersucht Brian Carrier die Rolle seismischer Begrifflichkeit im Matthäusevangelium. Mittels eines narrativ-kritischen Ansatzes argumentiert er, dass die seismischen Hinweise bei Matthäus Jesu Leben, Tod und Auferstehung als Teilerfüllung alttestamentlicher Prophezeiungen über den Tag des Herrn darstellen. In this study, Brian Carrier provides a comprehensive analysis of the role that seismic language plays within the Matthean Gospel narrative. After reconstructing what connotations seismic language likely carried in Matthew's cultural context, the author utilizes an historically informed author-oriented narrative criticism that is complemented with redaction criticism to analyze the relationships that Matthew's seismic references display with regards to each other and to the overall narrative. This analysis leads to the conclusion that Matthew's seismic references collectively indicate that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus together represent the partial fulfillment of the Old Testament eschatological Day of the Lord.
