    Hip Hop is begonnen als een subcultuur in de jaren zeventig en ontstaan in de Bronx (New York). Idolen binnen de Hip Hop hebben in de loop der jaren vaak een iconische status gekregen; het is een cultuur die wordt gevolgd door mensen over de hele wereld. 0Meefout heeft de grootste Hip Hop artiesten ter wereld gefotografeerd. Hij groeide op in de Bijlmermeer in het Amsterdamse Zuidoost. Zijn liefde voor Hip Hop ? die al vroeg ontstond door te luisteren naar cassettebandjes van onder andere Eric B & Rakim, NWA en Public Enemy ? komt duidelijk naar voren in zijn fotografie. Zijn portretten kenmerken zich vaak door een verstilde eenvoud en halen ?de artiest? even uit hun dagelijkse context, die vaak bestaat uit grote entourages en een hoop ruis. Snoop Dogg, Lil? Wayne, Pusha T, Ice Cube, The Beastie Boys en de Wu-Tang Clan: Meefout heeft ze allemaal vastgelegd op camera. Door zijn intuïtieve manier van werken, is Meefout een toonaangevende portretfotograaf, mét een grote liefde voor Hip Hop. 0Meefouts eerste fotografieboek '1,2 1,2 ? Portraits of Hip Hop' presenteert een indrukwekkend overzicht van zijn uitgebreide oeuvre. Het boek toont het proces van Meefout als fotograaf, maar is tegelijkertijd ook een ode aan de Hip Hop; vertelt vanuit zijn eigen perspectief en in de context van de omgeving waarin Meefout opgroeide met al haar grootstedelijke en maatschappelijke uitdagingen. Die context draagt bij aan Meefout?s beeldtaal: van lokale tot internationale sterren die poseren alsof het bekenden van hem zijn, heel vertrouwd en natuurlijk, en daarom universeel

Containing nearly 400 objects from oil paintings to engraved prints, Bach's collection is a remarkable artifact of eighteenth-century music culture. Taken together, the portraits provide a vivid panorama of music history and culture as well as the sensibility and humor of the time in which they were made. Most importantly, Richards argues, the collection sought to establish music as an object of aesthetic, philosophical, and historiographical value-as an art with a history. Richards makes the collection come alive, showing readers what it was like to tour the portrait gallery and to experience music in a room whose walls were packed with art. She uses the collection to analyzes the "portraitive" aspect of Bach's music, engaging with the influential theories of Swiss physiognomist Johann Caspar Lavater. She also explores the collection as a way to cultivating and preserving friendship, connecting this to the culture of remembrance that resonates in Bach's domestic music. Richards shows how the new music historiography of the late eighteenth century, rich in anecdote, memoir, and verbal portrait, was deeply indebted to portrait collecting and its negotiation between presence and detachment, fact and feeling"--
